Commercial PAT Testing, London

Commercial installations are in constant use by employees and the public, they also usually contain expensive assets like stock, office equipment and other valuable items. Due to the environment these electrical systems are installed within they are vulnerable to wear, tear and a whole host of other factors that could lead to costly problems down the line. We at Sol-Lux Electrical believe that it is of upmost importance to keep these electrical systems safe and within compliance of current electrical regulations. Within a commercial premises there are three main areas of testing that are split into the following tests:

  • EICR
  • Fire Alarm Test
  • PAT Testing

These tests combined will assure the electrics within you commercial building are safe to be used by your employees and the general public.

Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR)

All electrical installations, over time, will deteriorate naturally as they are a working mechanism made up of various components and working systems. Much like an MOT for cars it is important that you ensure you carry out checks on the condition of the electrics in your home at regular intervals. This will help identify any faults or defects which could require improvement and will ensure the continued operation of the installation in a safe and effective manner.

An EICR will consist of both visual and practical tests. The test will consist of testing at the fuse board/consumer unit and tests out in the field (sockets etc). Power will be lost for short periods of time during the test and various appliances may need to be disconnected or unplugged. The EICR Certificate will result in either a pass or a fail and will present findings as C Values (C1,C2,C3) and sometimes FI (Further Investigation). Each failing EICR carried out by our NICEIC approved electricians will be presented with images of the non-compliance’s and a quote will be issued alongside the report to meet a satisfactory standard.

Why might i need a EICR?

It is now law that every commercial building and business must have a satisfactory EICR. It is also required that an EICR is carried out every 5 years. If anything should go wrong electrically it is possible that your insurance company may ask for a copy of your report. Therefore it is better to have one to hand, than to have not. We would strongly advise that any commercial property or business without a report or expired report should book an EICR in with our team.

It helps to keep your employees, customers and the general public safe. As it will identify any non-compliance’s with current electrical regulations and may help reduce risk of electric shock

How we carry out our EICR’s

Here at Sol-Lux Electrical we believe that the current way our competitors and the industry as a whole preform EICR’s could massively be improved. The Electrical Report itself should contain as much information as possible when it comes to the standard of the electrical installation, our reports do just this. Commercial EICR’s are priced differently to domestic as commercial installations vary in size, purpose and age. Therefore, we would carry out a survey, either via images or in person where we can assess the works involved. We would then present you with a scope of works describing all the works to be carried out alongside a quotation for all works involved.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

Commercial appliances become damaged or deteriorate over time, this increases the risk of shock or safety. PAT testing an type of test that helps to eliminate this risk as it is a series of tests designed to test the condition of your appliances withing you home. Many safety defects in your appliances can be found through a visual inspection however some faults will only become apparent through testing using specialist equipment.

We offer a great efficient and thorough service of PAT testing in London for businesses to not only ensure that they comply with health and safety standards but also for insurance purposes.

A fire alarm system is now a key part of every commercial installation and if you don’t have one installed we would highly recommend it, as it plays an integral part in your buildings safety.
